Who We Are
Ambleside Cooperative of Hampton Roads is a unique homeschooling experience in Virginia Beach. We are a community of Christian homeschool families. Ambleside Cooperative can be described as a "Cottage" school, much like a one-room school house of yesteryear, with curriculum designed for mixed ages.
Ambleside Cooperative is intentionally small with limited openings. We are currently taking applications for our primary program (Grades K-3), Intermediate / Middle school program (Grades 4-8), and high school (grades 9-12) applications for the 2024-25 school year.

I'm Pattie Dortch, the creator and director of Ambleside Cooperative. Here are three important things to know about me:
I spent the first three decades of my teaching career walking the home education path with my own five children. During those years, I discovered the most important values of education. It is a great honor to guide moms and dads down that path with their children. Some homeschool parents realize that they need more structure with their commitment to teaching their children than they can provide themselves. Ambleside Cooperative exists to offer the best elements of a classroom setting without sacrificing the essence of homeschooling. We seek to help parents release the burdens of unnecessary educational expectations and get to the heart of educating their children. My years of working in the homeschool world have equipped me to coach others through the path of home education. Teaching at a local Christian school has sharpened my skills in classroom instruction. Homeschooling my own five children gives me a sympathetic perspective of what parents go through as they educate their children. I look forward to assisting your family to provide a well-rounded educational experience for your students this year! |
Our Location
Located in the heart of Virginia Beach on Lynnhaven Parkway, only minutes away from the Lynnhaven Mall. We have partnered with The Potter's House Church to use their facility.
