Where does the name Ambleside come from?
Ambleside is the name of the hometown of Charlotte Mason, an educator and reformer in England at the turn of the twentieth century. Her philosophy of education inspires some of our activities.

Is Ambleside a School?
Ambleside is considered a co-op. We are a ministry of The Potter's House Church in Virginia Beach that empowers parents to homeschool their student with biblical worldview. We pray that we will be a blessing to our community and to our God.

Are there any restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic?
No. We believe that parents have enough common sense to make decisions for their own children. We will not be conducting health checks, face masks, or social distancing in our classrooms. You should take this into consideration before enrolling. As you well know, even though COVID-19 was and still is a serious virus, it poses a minuscule risk to the age groups that we teach. We do ask parents to closely monitor their children for any symptoms that may be contagious. Sick kids should stay home from classes. We will contact parents if we observe any flu-like symptoms in the classroom.
What grade levels are included?
The 2024/2025 School year will include 1st-8th grades, with selected high school classes.
Do the children receive grades?
Yes. Students 4th-8th grades will receive report cards quarterly upon parent's request. Grades are designed strictly to show progress in meaningful areas.
Statement of faith
We believe the Bible is Word of God.
We believe that there is one God, in three Persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is all-powerful, present throughout all Creation, knows all and nothing is hidden from His sight.
We believe that God is holy and full of mercy. He created the heavens and earth, and everything in them, and all is very good.
We believe that Jesus is fully God and fully man, in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension, and His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that because of Adam’s sin all mankind is in rebellion against God. For the salvation of such lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is necessary.
We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone, and that faith without works is dead.
We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
